Yamaha Proformance Whitten Brothers Racing Team Update

Victorian Motocross Championship rd 1

Kale Makeham and Hugh Mckay competed at the first round of the VIC MX series on the 5th of March. This was Kale’s first time behind a gate since the Sydney Australian Supercross Open and first time back on a 250 in over 12 months. Kale finished 2nd on the day but the result did not reflect on the progress made throughout the day. Kale said “This was a great hit out and I am happy with where I am at, we used the day as a chance to make a lot of changes to the bike and get a real good shake down of where we are at”. Kale improved each time out on the track and in the final moto set the fastest lap time. Hugh entered in the Pro 250 race even though he was eligible to ride under 19s and A grade. Hugh gained some very valuable experience and got to battle with some season MX National campaigners and you could see Hugh learn with every lap. Hugh finished the three moto format in 5th. Team Manager Travis Whitten said “This was a great event and really has helped us a lot in our preparation. The highlight for the day for me was watching Kale and Hugh come out of the first turn in first and second in the second moto. The team now has just under a month to be ready for the first round of the MX Nationals in Horsham.
